The Black Britannia Exhibition is a nationally acclaimed exhibition, showing at Showroom Workstation in celebration of Black History Month.
The Exhibition will run for four weeks and showcase images of prominent figures in British political and cultural life created by renowned photographer John Ferguson. The exhibition will also incorporate the Pioneers Exhibition and the Arthur Wharton History Project.
The exhibitions have only been made possible by the efforts and contributions of various local organisations such as Guinness Northern Counties, Sheffield City Council, South Yorkshire Housing Association, Arches Housing, Pennine Housing 2000, Sheffield Homes, Akzonobel, FURD (Football Unites Racism Divides) and the Showroom Workstation.
Black History Month came to Britain in 1987 and has been celebrated nationally every October since. This event highlights the positive aspects of black culture and recognises the contributions that black people have made to Britain and the wider world. Showroom Cinema is also screening a season of films as part of Black History Month.
